Timpiste

                         Le Moya

Lá stoirmiúil a bhí ann.  Bhí an ghaoth ag séideadh agus bhí scamaill mhóra dubha sa spéir.  D’éirigh mé ar a hocht a chlog.  Chuir mé bríste géine, geansaí agus stocaí orm.

 Nuair a bhí mé réidh rith mé síos an staighre.  Chuaigh mé isteach sa chistin.  Rinne mé leite agus d’ith mé é.  Ansin chuir mé hata, lamhainní, cóta baistí agus buataisí orm.

 Shiúil mé síos an fheirm.  Bhí mo chara ag fanacht liom i bpáirc le liathróid.  Thosaíomar ag imirt peile sa pháirc leis na ba.

Tar éis tamaill bhí tuirse orm.  Shuigh mé síos ar charraig.  Cheap mé go mbeadh sé ag cur báistí I gcúpla noiméad.  “Féach ar na scamaill”, arsa mo chara.  “Sea, tá sé in am dul abhaile”.

Bhíomar ag dul abhaile nuair a shéid an ghaoth.  Thit an liathróid in aice leis an sruthán.  Rith mo chara taobh thiar de.  Bhí an sruthán ag éirí níos airde ach ba chuma léi.  Rug sí ar an liathróid, ach go tobann shleamhnaigh sí.  Thosaigh sí ag dul síos an sruthán.  Scréad mé agus d’fhéach mé timpeall an sruthán.  Ní raibh mé ábalta aon rud a fheicéail.  Anois, bhí mé ag caoineadh.  Chonaic mé lámh san uisce.  Lig mé beic asam agus tharraing mé í amach.  Bhí a súile dúnta agus bhí sí ag cur fola í ngach áit.

Ghlaoigh mé ar mo Dhaid, tháinig sé agus i gceann cúpla nóiméad bhí mé slán.  “Is laoch thú.  Shábháil tú do chara”, arsa mo Dhaid.  Tháinig an otharcharr agus thóg said mo chara go dtí an t-ospidéal.  Bhí sí ceart go leor.

An oíche sin chodail mé go sámh mar bhí mé tuirseach traochta ach bhí mé an sásta liom féin!

A Green Flag for Water Conservation

We are now working towards our water saving flag. Every day we use about 1 cubic metre of water in our school. This is 1,000 litres. Here is a tank which holds 1 cubic metre;

This tank contains 1 cubic metre of water

We will now try to reduce the amount of water we use…

Raising Our Green Flag -2009

Two years ago Clondulane N.S. started working towards getting a Green Flag. We started by reducing litter and separating different kinds of rubbish. Everybody also made an effort to bring re-useable drink bottles. Although the school always had compost bins they were now labelled. We started a vegetable garden and used the compost for our vegetable patch. The school also did a litter pick.When we finished our project we sent a portfolio to be assessed. Then a few weeks later a man named Hans came to our school and said that we deserved to be awarded a Green Flag. Catríona, Eoghan and Rebecca went to the Lifetime Lab in Cork to receive the Green Flag. A Week later a date was set to raise the Green Flag. On Friday the 13th it was decided the Flag was going to be raised. All of the parents attended on the day to see the flag being raised. Before the flag was raised speeches were made by Father Casey, Rachel Burke from An Taisce and Mrs. O’Brien. Then the school band played three tunes. After all that the flag was raised by Timmy McCarthy, Cork Senior Hurler, Connor Harnett and Avril Beirne.

Getting Our Second Green Flag 2011

On the morning of Monday 14th March at 10 o clock we left to get the green flag in Cork City.  We went in Mrs. O’ Brien’s car.   The drive was about an hour.  When we got to the Cork Science Lab we went into a room and heard a big speech.  The speech was about how much energy we saved and a man was talking about the Antarctic.  The man went to the Antarctic and saw a baby penguin hatching and there was weed killer in it’s shell.  There were 26 other schools at Cork Science Lab.  After the speech we got our picture taken with the Green Flag.  Abbey got to hold the certificate and Niamh got to hold the Green Flag.  After that we went into a marquee for lunch.  For desert we got chocolate cake.  After lunch we looked at all these games for saving energy.  Then we went back to the car.  When we got back to school we showed the two classes the Green flag.
